Teen Brat Camps

Being labeled as a "brat" can be a self-fulfilling prophecy for many teens. However, it can also help begin the process of communication and behavior modification for others. Teen brat camps have proven to be effective in correcting behavioral and decision making lapses in thousands of teens' lives.

Brat camp has a different meaning depending on a particular program, and each camp takes a different approach. Some camps are centered on building team and cooperation skills in a group setting. Often, these camps are located in rural areas, where lots of outdoor activities and exercises will take place as a part of teamwork activities.

Other brat camps are based in community service. They employ a teamwork strategy as well, but also incorporate a selflessness component. Teens in these sorts of camps will work intensely with leaders to execute a number of community service projects that will not only show them the power of cooperation and teamwork, but will do a service for their neighborhood or town.

The most severe and rigorous brat camps are those that are labeled as "boot camps." Boot camps are usually organized and led by ex-military staff who will treat every camp member as a "new recruit." Teens will have to get up very early in the morning, succumb to a strict regimen of physical activity, cleaning duties, and "missions." The physical component of these camps is very extreme, as well as the psychological process of breaking down bad behavior and replacing it with good choices and attitude.
