Utah teens use alcohol more than any other drug
By Staff Writer
Throughout the nation, alcohol continues to affect almost every age group. Experts say that since the substance may be the easiest to obtain, more people are able to use it.
For instance, a recent study from the Weber County, Utah Health Services shows that alcohol is the most used drug, the Standard-Examiner reports.
As a result, the Prevention Advisory Committee was formed by the city council to deal with drug and alcohol issues. Committee members include police officials, school personnel and professionals from prevention and treatment programs.
Officials noted that for nearly every grade level, alcohol was the most used substance, followed by tobacco and marijuana.
For individuals who seek drug rehab or substance abuse help, boarding schools for troubled teens may help by offering individual or family therapy.
According to the the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly 75,000 teen deaths are caused by excessive alcohol consumption ever year.
