Teen pregnancy can affect the lives of the adolescent, their infant and their family. Experts say that pregnancy during this time in a person's life may stunt physical, emotional and mental growth, which could lead to health issues further into life.

Officials from the Minidoka County School District in Indiana recently revealed that 40 students were pregnant, the Magic Valley Times-News reports.

A statewide survey showed that the county had the second-highest teen pregnancy rate. Approximately 45 of every 1,000 girls between ages 15 and 17 were pregnant. A neighboring county showed a rate of 26 pregnancies per 1,000 teens.

The program will be offered after school and will provide teens with birth-control information. Officials told the news source that many teen mothers get pregnant again withing two years after giving birth. However, a new teen pregnancy outreach program at the Cassia Regional Medical Centers seeks to help new mothers by offering the knowledge they need to care for their child and deal with the challenges of teen parenthood.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 39 of every 1,000 teen girls between ages 15 and 19 were found to be pregnant in 2009.
