The Faulkner County, Arkansas Sheriff's Office recently announced they have secured two federal grants to educate parents on the dangers of providing alcohol to minors, CBS affiliate Today's THV reports.

Officials from the sheriff's office told the news source that they funded a public service announcement on the station's channel geared toward showing parents and adults the harmful effects that underage drinking can have on children.

They added that they are currently designing a billboard with a similar message about preventing underage drinking. A recent in-state survey shows that nearly 12 percent of 10th grade students obtained alcohol from a relative and approximately 13 percent reportedly drink at their home.

Furthermore, 54.6 percent of children between grades 6 and 12 said that alcohol would be easy to obtain, according to the Arkansas Prevention Needs Assessment study

According to a 2008 by the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, nearly 28 percent of youth between ages 12 and 20 consumed alcohol in the 30 days prior to the study.
