Companies announce that they will raise awareness and funds for autism research

Nearly 36,500 individuals are diagnosed with autism each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. As a result, many companies are raising money to help generating awareness and providing funds for further research.

For example, the cookware company IMUSA and Sedano's supermarkets recently announced that they will continue to team up to raise awareness and generate funds for Autism Speaks. The companies will launch a statewide in-store Puzzle Piece Foundation campaign in Florida to benefit autism research.

Individuals who suffer from autism often exhibit difficulties in communicating, socializing and building relationships with other people. The condition currently does not have a cure.

"Autism affects one in every 110 children and Sedano's is honored to help raise awareness of this growing health crisis that touches so many children throughout South Florida," said Javier Herran, director of marketing, Sedano's supermarkets. "We invite the community to stop by our stores and donate $1 for Autism Speaks."

Enrolling children who suffer from autism into therapeutic boarding schools can help them achieve behavior success through family and group therapy.
