Two eighth grade girls fulfilled a suicide pact at a recent slumber party in Minnesota, news station WLSAM reports.

Law enforcement officials told the news source that the girls killed themselves and left behind suicide notes telling their families that they loved them. They added that one of the girls had recently moved to a rural town and complained that she felt left out and bullied at school.

"She was made fun of for being overweight [and for] her red hair," Robin Settle, the girl's aunt, told the news source. "She posted on my [Facebook] wall that she really wanted to come back [to Indiana] and that the people were mean and cruel and she did not fit in."

Experts say that teens who are depressed or isolated may experience bullying in some facet of their lives. Parents may wish to explore school for troubled children options. These institutions offer therapeutic programs designed to help them overcome difficulties associated with the behavior.

According to a survey conducted by the Cyberbullying Research Center, a total of 7.5 percent of students reported being harassed online in 2009.
